On 20 October 2017 Modul launched a new rail express block-train from its Terminal in Yekaterinburg connecting Shuvakish Station of Sverdlovskaya Railway and Novorossiysk Station with export cargo of cathode copper.
The block-train transported ninety nine 20’containers with both containers and flatcars owned by Modul.
Estimated time of the express train en route is four days, that is four times faster in comparison to dispatch by single containers or by covered wagons. Additionally the cargo moves as per route schedule without stops at sorting stations, which means extra safety of cargo in-transit.
From Novorossiysk to Yekaterinburg the train is delivering imports for region customers.
Successful trial of the first train makes it possible to switch for regular weekly service.
This service is very popular among Ural exporters, who traditionally move goods via the Port of Novorossiysk, but are exposed to problems of congestion at Novorossiysk Station and weather conditions at the port.
