The Obelisk was transported by road from Moscow region to Vienna in June 2017. The transportation was arranged through MODUL and the Association of Producers and Carriers of Dangerous Goods.

   The Obelisk was unveiled on June 22 at Wiener Zentralfriedhof, where last year graves of almost 200 soviet soldiers were discovered who died during the Vienna Offensive (March 16 – April 15, 1945) and died soviet captured civilian prisoners. The monument inauguration was attended by the Russian ambassador to Austria, the executive director of the Russian Military Historical Society, the Austria Interior Ministry’s representative.
